Breast lift (having your breasts lifted)

Weight loss, breastfeeding and the passing of years can cause your breasts to sag significantly. If you are bothered by sagging breasts, then a breast lift (breast enhancement) is a possible solution for you. If you wish, this can be combined with a breast augmentation with prosthesis or with a breast reduction.

The consultation

Dr Schiettecatte discusses with you prior to a breast correction how your wishes can be realized. Request a no-obligation consultation now. After the consultation, you will receive a tailor-made quotation.

The breast lift

If you want to have your breasts lifted, your breasts will be shaped evenly, and your nipple will be placed centrally on the breast again. For this, Dr Schiettecatte makes an incision around the areola and a vertical incision from the nipple to the breast fold. Then the excess skin is removed, and the nipple is moved upwards. The wound is sutured with fine thread, so that scars are limited as much as possible.

After lifting your breasts (recovery)

Immediately after the breast lift, the result is already visible, even though it takes about a year before your breasts take on their final shape. That is also the moment that the final assessment of the results takes place. Immediately after the operation, your breasts are dressed with bandages. Sometimes, drains are also placed so that wound fluid is easily drained. The drains are removed after about three days; the sutures after about two weeks. Initially, your breasts will be sore and swollen. The scars are then also red and swollen, although this decreases after a while. After about a year, the scars have changed into thin white lines; this is unavoidable, especially around the areola. Due to the position under the breast fold, the vertical line is less visible. Your wound heals most quickly by wearing a special bra day and night for six weeks after surgery, which you can then replace with a sturdy sports bra. Dr Schiettecatte will tell you more about this. Once the wounds are healed, you can wear regular lingerie.

Risks and complications

Before you undergo surgery, Dr Schiettecatte discusses the possible risks with you. Although there are rarely complications with breast corrections, it is still possible that you may develop bleeding or an infection. The scars can also thicken, or the sensitivity of your breast can be permanently decreased. That is why you will be well informed in advance about what can go wrong and what you can do yourself to limit the risks.

In short…

Duration of the operation:an hour and a half.
Anaesthesia:general anaesthesia.
Admission to the clinic:day intake.
Pain relief afterwards:paracetamol or a similar painkiller.
Sutures:will be removed about two weeks after surgery.
Bandage:around the breast, will be removed about one week after the operation. Then you wear a sturdy sports bra day and night for six weeks.
Practical:for the first six weeks after surgery, avoid: lifting, strenuous physical effort, exercise and lifting your arms above your head. Avoid direct sunlight in the first year after your operation due to the risk of hyperpigmentation of the scars.
Stability:without prosthesis, only two years; with implant, eight to ten years.

Super happy!

“Years went by before I dared to take this step. I am rather anxious, and thanks to the good care of the assistant and Dr Schiettecatte, I was quickly (for me) at ease. The service before but also afterwards has given me a good feeling. Dr Schiettecatte is a kind and skilled plastic surgeon who was very nice, and my eyes were almost not swollen or blackened…! Super happy! Really recommend him and clinic Veldhoven!”

Very good experience!

“Last Tuesday, I had my breast augmentation done by Dr Schiettecatte with Diane Gabriels. I had a B85 cup, and now I have a nice D cup! I am so happy with it. Dr Schiettecatte is a very kind and relaxed man. Instead of drop-shaped implants, he advised me to take 500 MPP. At first, I thought it would be too big for me, but I trusted that he knows what he is doing. I have not regretted it for a moment since the operation was done! Also the co-assistant and anaesthetist (David in particular) are very nice people. In short, had a very good experience with this clinic!”
